MANILA, Philippines – President Benigno Aquino III has declared May 13, Election Day, a special non-working holiday throughout the country, Malacañang announced Wednesday.
In a statement, Malacañang said the President “wishes to enable the Filipino people to exercise their right to suffrage” as he urged “all eligible to use this non-working holiday to participate in the electoral process that forms the bedrock of our democracy.”
