Will 'kilig factor' work for Jun Magsaysay's campaign? By Rio Rose Ribaya

Can several heartthrobs add momentum to the senatorial bid of candidates tailing the Senate's so-called Magic 12" in recent surveys?

The camp of former Senator Ramon “Jun” Magsaysay Jr. is taking his chance, as he enlisted the support of two male celebrity endorsers barely a month before the May 13 polls.

Kapuso star Dingdong Dantes, who also endorsed the son of late President Ramon Magsaysay in the previous elections, is again backing his candidacy.

Dantes, who is also the founding chairman of YesPinoy Foundation, said he believes in Magsaysay’s programs that empower underprivileged children through education.

“We are very thankful that Dingdong who is a longtime friend of my family has agreed to come forward and endorse us,” Magsaysay said in a statement.

The Kapuso star shot a TV ad for Magsaysay on Wednesday a few weeks after Richard Yap, who plays Ser Chief in ABS-CBN’s hit show Please Be Careful With My Heart, backed the former senator.

Aside from Dantes and Yap, talk-show host and comedian Ogie Diaz and Miss International 1970 title-holder Aurora Pijuan also pushed for Magsaysay’s senatorial bid on Twitter and Facebook.

Award-winning directors Gil Portes, Leo Martinez and Mark Meilly likewise are campaigning on their own for the late President Magsaysay’s only son.

Magsaysay ranked 13th to 14th with another senatorial candidate in the last survey.
